POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Student Success leads a holistic advising program that supports students from admission through graduation. This position will enhance orientation, advising, and matriculation success. The Director implements new strategies, re-envision existing programs, and increases student persistence. The Director reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
PRIMARY DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Establish relevant policies, procedures, and practices to support student success • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate academic advisors • Provide leadership for first-year and transfer experiences • Build institutional awareness of and provide consultation on retention and persistence • Oversee recruitment of and training for first-year experience course instructors • Develop, implement, and enhance early intervention strategies • Develop, implement, and enhance first-year experience and transfer experience policies, procedures, and practices • Develop and monitor annual budget. • Collaborate and provide support for orientation and advising activities • Serve on university committees • Perform other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: • The Director will possess strong oral and written communication skills. The Director will build rapport with students, faculty, staff, administration, and community members.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree from accredited college or university preferred, bachelor’s degree and three years in student success position minimum.
Experience developing and implementing student success programs
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and flexibility in problem-solving
Excellent organizational, writing, interpersonal, and speaking skills
Experience facilitating collaboration within a diverse constituency
Genuine desire and ability to work with and relate to college students
Experience with student information system and web-based applications relevant to the duties of the Director

SUPERVISION GIVEN TO: Academic advisors and first-year experience instructors
HOURS: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., M – F, with occasional evening and weekend activities

· Assist with general Registrar’s Office and Support Central functions, such as answering student, faculty, and staff questions, helping students with degree plans and enrollment details, processing transcript requests, and other duties as assigned.
· Assist with general Registrar’s Office and Student Advocacy Center functions, such as answering student, faculty, and staff questions, helping students with degree plans and enrollment details, processing transcript requests, and other duties as assigned.
· Evaluating and inputting transfer course equivalencies for concurrent work for new first-time college students; transfer work for traditional undergraduate, graduate and New College transfer students; and transfer work for current OC students who transfer in additional hours from other institutions.
· Utilize the university enrollment database system (Colleague) to enter transfer courses to Oklahoma Christian University official transcripts, make substitutions and overrides on degree audits, and add new classes, programs, and degree plans.
· Evaluate, determine and input equivalencies for prior learning credits in the areas of AP, CLEP, and International Baccalaureate hours.
· Coordinate the transfer approval process for undergraduate students. Collect college transcripts and analyze transfer course descriptions to determine equivalencies for general education courses. Work with division/department chairs, to determine equivalencies for major courses.
· Work to maintain current and former student and alumni records through Laserfiche and MidCon. Update current, former, and alumni academic files and records (name and address changes, relationship, etc.). Verify student enrollment/degrees through the National Student Clearinghouse website.
· Regulate the credit evaluation process; develop and implement domestic and international articulation agreements and transfer policies.

This position is responsible for the central academic records materials, including transcripts and diplomas, of University of Oklahoma Health Sciences program students and alumni. Additionally, this position develops and implements goals, objectives, strategies, processes, policies, and operational procedures related to academic records, the academic calendar, and the overall success of the team. As a member of the Health Sciences Recruitment and Admissions team, the role is critical to the degree audit system, classroom and course management, registration, enrollment, grade processing, eligibility services, degree verification, veteran student services and other related functions. The Registrar is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing systems and technologies, alongside campus partners, that not only enhance the academic records processes, but improves the overall undergraduate, graduate and professional student experience.
